Director Danny Boyle mentions his interest in doing a film of Irvine Welsh’s Porno in an interview with The Australian. However, he reckons it won’t be happening for another 10 years:
“Boyle is keen to bring the cast of Trainspotting back together for a version of Irvine Welsh’s Porno. His idea is that Begbie (Robert Carlyle) comes out of prison after doing 15 to 20 years for murder, still harbouring old grudges, and reignites the circle of people from the first film. Now, though, they are middle-aged, no longer the hedonists they were, and there is a cost to everything they do.
Unfortunately, Trainspotting fans gagging for the return of Renton, Spud, Begbie et al will have to wait at least another 10 years, because Boyle wants the actors – and the audience – to have aged along with characters.”
